Flash forward to today, and search engine optimization is almost unrecognizable, thanks to exponential growth in technology. 

As an SEO professional, my responsibilities have dramatically shifted over the past ten years. Change is the only constant for us, and with the addition of AI SEO, this will grow exponentially. 

There is good with the bad, as technology makes our lives easier. Tasks that once took days, like site crawl analysis, now happen in minutes with sophisticated auditing tools. 

The explosion of data has added critical analysis and CRO to my workload. And machine learning algorithms send me scrambling to decipher perplexing ranking fluctuations.

We constantly research patent filings or test hunches on experimental sites. I am grateful I work at an agency and can build experiments, such as comparing how a shift toward long-form articles might impact rankings.

While I geek over details like LSI keyword placement, search success ultimately hinges on creating value. The most perfectly optimized page is meaningless if the user bounces because it loads too slowly.
